Rent a car from Nice
 

Recommendations please for best rental car company to tour Provence for a week.

I always rent my car from http://www.autoeurope.com

We rented through AutoEurope as well. We were given a car through Avis, easy pick up at Nice airport. You can access the Autoroute from airport.

Another recommendation for AutoEurope. We prefer to get a car from Europcar, and just rented one a couple of weeks ago at Nice. No problems whatsoever.

If you have a U.S. credit card, you might be able to take the basic rate that both companies list, where the CDW is carried by your credit card. If you do that, make sure that you refuse all extra insurance when picking up the car. Check with your credit card to see if its coverage is with or without a deductible.

We recently rented a car in France for 10 days, and the rate was cheaper directly through Avis than through Autoeurope. I would shop around.
