Renfe Question Re: 62 Day Window

I'm trying to book one-way tickets from Madrid to Santander for a Friday in early May. I'm within the 62 day window and it is only listing one train for that day: a late evening R. Express train that doesn't offer any web or estrella fares. When I search other Fridays in March or April, it lists three additional options, all ALVIA trains that have discounted fares available.

Will these additional train options appear as I get closer to my dates? Is it unusual to not have the full schedule within the 62 day time frame? I think I read in one of the Renfe guides that this may happen in the Spring when they're loading the summer schedule. But I just wanted to see if anyone has experienced anything similar. I guess I'll just continue to check back every day and hopefully the full schedules will be posted soon.

I was able to book my tickets more than 62 day in advance, but could not print them until 60 day before the trip.
Renfe is tricky, keep trying!

some fares are not posted until closer to the date. you are dealing with a holiday weekend perhaps, as May 1st is Labor Day here and holiday time fares seem slow to be posted.

Yes, I had some trains show up as much as 75 days in advance, and others not until 35 days in advance. And some appear, then disappear, then reappear a couple of days later.

I don't find the renfe online site very user friendly. Try this site - it is a big help in navigating your way around and gives step by step instrucions:

http://www.seat61.com/Europe-train-tickets.htm

This is not only helpful for Spain, but all of Europe.

Good luck!

ah....I think I found the answer to my latest post here? still am curious if there's something special about 5/23 and travel from Madrid to Sevilla that I am unaware of. really don't like 9:00 a.m. or 4:00 p.m.....is there any way to tell which fares get loaded when? I'm probably asking for a miracle here huh?

give it a few days.. normally there are trains every hour;
I see no reason for all of them to be sold out.

thanks danon. that's kinda what I was thinking. hope we're both right!

also, I did check the days before the 23rd and about a week beforehand, there are trains every hour....so, I will sit tight and hope for the best :)
