Renfe questiion

Hi, this is for all the Renfe experts out there! I was looking to buy tickets from Seville to Malaga on May 19th. I only see one price for each train. I assume the discount tickets are sold out? If that is the case, can I wait to buy them until we get there (if the price is going to stay the same) or can the fares go up?

Also, if I buy tickets from Madrid to Seville and we then decide to get off in Cordoba to spend a few hours there (I want to, DH doesn't!), any idea if we can use get off & then exchange that ticket for a later train from Cordoba to Seville?? The ticket I would buy is the P+.
Thanks!

I do not think there has ever been a discount on this route. You will never see a discount on an MD journey. Nor, if I am not mistaken, on an AVANT journey. The fares will not change from what you see.

You cannot break your journey in Cordoba as you describe, as it gives RENFE no time to resell your ticket.

As noted, the Sevilla-Malaga trains (MD and AVANT) offer only one class of ticket, Tourist Class with no discounts, outside of the standard senior discount if purchased at the station.

If you leave the platform to spend some time in Córdoba, you will have to purchase another ticket in order to continue on to Sevilla. The ticket would not be exchangeable since it has already been used to get on the train in Madrid. If you want to do something like that, then buy two separate tickets, one to Córdoba and one to Sevilla.

Great, thanks for the clarification on the Madrid-Seville route.
For Malaga, since the fare would be the same anyway, is it OK to wait until we get there? Or could the trains be sold out?
Thanks again!

Danon, my husband is above 60.I assume I will have to buy the Tarjeta Dorada only when we are in Spain, is it wise to wait until then or should I go ahead and buy the Madrid-Cordoba -Seville tickets now?
