rendez-vous at CDG

My friend and I have coordinated our flights so that they both arrive same time but hers into T1 and mine into T2. Will someone suggest an easy-to-find spot between the 2 baggage claim areas where we can arrange (ahead of time) to meet? At this point, neither of us will have a cell (bummer).

Judy,

I think you are setting yourself up for a problem. T1 and T2 do not connect, they are at least a half a mile apart. Even if both your planes arrive on time, and there is no problem with either of you getting luggage (my recollection is that luggage delivery is faster in T2 than in T1, but if has been at least 15 years since I had luggage delivered in either place)one of you will have to take a shuttle bus to your meeting place. And, without cell phones, there will be no way of knowing if both of you are actually in the airport.

It would be helpful to know which airline you are on or which part of T2 you are arriving in. Then someone on this board would be able to tell you which restaurants are available to wait in outside of security. Trust me, any of them will be very crowded and likely uncomfortable, particularly if one of you is late.

You each may want to consider going to the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel attached to T2. That will be a walk for you and a shuttle bus for your friend. That will be far more comfortable than any place in the terminals, it will be less crowded and quiet, and you will be able to get a cup of coffee while waiting. Also, the Sheraton is convenient to the RER and TGV, if you are planning on using either to leave the airport. It also is not far from the car rental desks. Also, I think there is a flight status board in the lobby, if not, the concierge will be able to tell either of you of the status of the friend's flight.

But, you must consider getting cell phones. Considering the cost of your flights and the rest of your trip to Europe, the extra expense will be limited, and the difficulty you can get into if you cannot communicate with one another is the stuff of comic movies;far more fun to watch than be involved in.

First thing...

Print out maps above both for you and them.

Sheraton might be fine. Meet after clearing and picking up bags.

Easier might be...

Could also say the Patisserie Paul food stall, top floor, near the TGV station at T2 (also RER station). Also, the CDGVAL shuttle train runs from T1 to the TGV/RER station at T2.

So...he could take the shuttle, both meet, have nice snack at Paul, head into city.

Merci bien Jeff et Michel,
I made a boo-boo. Neither of us is checking bags so we won't be coming fm baggage claim. My flight is AF 026 which arrives T2E I think. Her's is Air Canada coming into T1. We plan to take les cars Air France to Etoile. Do you know if these buses leave only from T2?

I've taken the Air France bus to the Airport.

The map is a bit vague. It seems to imply T2 and T1..I'll dig a bit

Merci Michel,
We've decided to meet at Sheraton. If we say we'll meet in the lobby, will that be specific enough?
Will she clear customs in T1 and I in T2 or is there a central customs area for both terminals?
Is customs on the same level as Sheraton?
Merci encore

The buses leave from several places around the airport. I don't think you comprehend how big CDG is, and you won't be clearing customs unless you have something to declare. YOu won't be going through customs. YOu have to go through passport control/immigration and of course you have to do that to get into the airport proper from where you get off the plane, you can't even get to the baggage claim without doing that. It's like any airport.

You can't get to a hotel without going through immigration control, it's the first thing you come to after getting off the plane.

I suppose the lobby is specific enough, I've never been in it, it's not like a typical hotel but kind of built into the terminal, but I presume it has a lobby area. Whether they want strangers hanging around in it who aren't staying there, I wouldn't want to bet. If I were a hotel, I wouldn't want everybody off the street hanging out in my lobby. But maybe it's huge and they won't care, I don't know. It's right in the airport on a corridor which goes to the RER station.

ty Christina,
We'll have only a carry-on w/ nothing to declare.........so do we pre-clear customs?
From the Sheraton, we want to get the Air France bus to Etoile. I feel overwhelmed just looking at the maps of CDG.
