Remembering Alicia DeLarrocha
Farewell to a wondeful talent

We have seen her a number of times and her palying was elegant.
|
She came on the stage at Orchestra Hall in Chicago and we were surprised how tiny she was. Perhaps five feet tall, surely no more. But when she played, she was a giant -- her music filled the hall to overflowing, vibrant and alive. I suspect we shall never hear her equal in our lifetime, if ever.

Good bye Alicia...
|
Years ago, while attending a work related conference in NY, I treated myself to a concert at Carnegie Hall, where Alicia de Larrocha performed. It was a magical evening -- sitting in that grand hall and listening to her wonderful playing.
|
I used to hear her regularly when I attended the Mostly Mozart Festivals when I lived in NYC. No one played Mozart as she did.

Thanks for posting. It was not in my local paper.

We were also fortunate to attend one of her performances at Lincoln Center. And our classical station, WQXR, has always been generous with playing her recordings.
