rembrandt hotel south kensington
just booked this hotel for three night stay in June- Anyone stayed there? As good a location as I hope it is? Easy to get to from heathrow?
|
I believe this hotel is very close to the Victoria & Albert Museum, and often runs specials on their rooms. I have seen the outside of this hotel, know of people who have stayed there, however have never stayed there myself.
From the information given to me it is a clean, basic hotel, that is not too expensive for London Hotel prices. The location is fine for a London visit, and you will be able to move about London from there no problem. It is an easy commute from Heathrow. If you are getting a decent deal there, it should be OK for you, just don't expect anything spectacular! |
It is right across the street from the V and A, 5-10 min. from Harrods, Harvey Nicks. We had an executive double, and we had a huge marble bathroom (almost as big as some rooms in Paris! :-)) The location is great, just a couple min. from S. Ken tube station. We flew into LGW and took the express train to Victoria, then a cab.
I recommend the hotel, and would stay there again. |
I'd hardly call it a basic hotel..it is a 4 star property. I've not stayed there but have visited with friends who were staying and attend Sunday Antiques shows there frequently. The room I saw was quite large for a city hotel with a great marble bath. The public rooms are nicely decorated.
The location is first rate in my opinion, close to both S Ken and Knightsbridge tube. Lots of restaurants and shops near-by. Head down to bromptom Rd or Glouscester rd and you'll find a laundromat, grocery stores , Boots , any kind of service you'll need. Good choice , particulary if you got a good rate |
Good to know that the rooms are so nice at the Rembrant! Perhaps the people I know who stayed there did not get a good room, or expected more. I do like the location.
Khepps, you will have to visit the Victoria & Albert Museum, expecially since it will be so close to your hotel. |
We are staying 2 nights (Queen Exec A/C for 99.GBP per night)in July at the recommendation of my soon to be Daughter-in-law. She's a Brit chef with 2 restaurants in London and 2 in Manhattan.
Looks like a good bang for the battered buck! |
That is a wonderful rate; we paid a lot more than that back in 2000.
|
Excellent rate, great hotel! Stayed there in February 2003. Wait until you see the dining room and the (included) breakfast buffet. It's the most beautiful room and the most extensive breakfast I've been offered on many, many trips to London.
Don't let the small lobby fool you, go through it and step up into the "parlor" for comfortable, luxurious "clubby" seating. Have a great trip! |
Thanks, but the 17.5% tax makes two nights $419. USD - less than great.

Rembrandt: I've stayed there and I liked everything about it - lobby, food, room, location (you can walk to Harrod's, too - took me a couple of days of weird tube trips to realize I could see it down the street).
I paid GPB 139 for a 2-bedded room in January - inclusive of tax and breakfast. So - I'd really like to know if someone has found it available cheaper, and where, as I'm planning a trip in May. |
Elizabeth,
tripadvisor.com comparison - includes BF, but not the 17.5% TAX. M |
the rate I got was 119GBP for 3 nights- breakfast included
|
I would like to know who you booked through to get that great rate. I have been quoted 119E for a superior room not an executive superior.
|
I've stayed there may be 4 years ago - very comfortable rooms, parlor, breakfast room. The location is very nice - short walk to Harrods, Richoux is of course right across from Harrods, good bus lines, V&A is right across the street...my favorite part of the location was taking a left out of the hotel and again a left and visiting the little shops located in the area behind the hotel...lovely to stroll in.

Bar007,
I rather think E119. is substantially better than 99.GBP. M |
