I pack my little roll-on case - he packs his. I see to all the toiletries & medication necessities in my vanitycase. We pack light - 1hr max and usually the day before.

I pack after I've showered on the morning of my flight. That way, I can use my toiletries (toothbrush, medication, etc.) up until I leave. Since I pack light, whatever I decide to wear for flying will be a large part of my ensemble and must be considered when I choose the rest of my wardrobe; it just doesn't pay to pack in advance. It takes me about a half hour--if that.

I do love planning what travel sized toiletries I'll be bringing. Long in advance. Passionfruit this, tea tree oil that...

It never takes us long to pack so we don't stress about it. We love to travel so we have a travel drawer that is stashed with everything from my handy travel fan to toiletries to our travel alarm, so it makes it easy to grab what we want and go. I usually know what I'm going to be wearing so I start packing the night before and it never takes more than half an hour.

We spend a few minutes the weekend before just making sure that we are not out of stock of anything we need and that we know which guidebooks and maps to bring with us.

JeanneB, you are correct. It only takes me a short time to actually pack (put items into suitcase), because clothes and such are all laid out and I've been thinking things thru for a couple weeks ahead of time.

NeoPatrick-- I think you hit the nail on the head....a rational post is not the only thing distant from this traveler

Anybody shopping for a cuckoo ....?

distant_traveler has posted a whole series of entertaining questions. Just click on the original poster's name and see for yourself. I don't think these are serious questions.

NeoPatrick: Exactly! I see you have already discovered for yourself how distant this traveler might actually be.

not that I can read minds, but I think Distant T had a lot of extra time this weekend ... and no one to talk to.

I usually have everything ready to pack by 24 hours before. And then it goes in a few hours before bedtime, so I can check all off the list. Yes, a list! That's all it takes. If I have the day of the evening flight off, I pack in the morning.

But maybe the lady in question is coming to Fodor's and asking "what should I pack?" Then she spends two weeks debating between the various methods that work for different people. She puts in her flip flops, swaps them for pumps, packs all black then hears that pink is the color in Paris this year ... she's so confused that she has forgotten what she actually needs. Por fing.
