Regular size DK books or the Top 10 books

I'm trying to decide on whether to purchase the regular size DK Rome books or the DK top 10 Rome book. I'm trying to limit myself to 1 book per city.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Would the top 10 book be sufficient enough or should I just forget about that and just lug around the big book?

Jenny, I really liked having the full Rome book with me. It's not that big and the block by block descriptions were so helpful. It was great for reading up as I rested in a cafe during the day too. Top 10 just doesn't have enough info for my taste. You can read all those before you go.

I agree with catbert - the top ten books are just not enough - especially for major cities - we tear out sections of travel books to carry with us as needed. We also write in books or interleave books with pages from the net or another book when we want to fill in info on a particular subject. - the full size DKs have been very useful on a number of our trips - and we buy them for each city or region (ie Rome & Tuscany) instead of the country (ie Italy) books. It is well worth the price.

As much as I love the Top 10 books, I'd go with the full-sized version if you're planning on only one book.

And the maps in the back of the full-size books are excellent, it's all you'll need!

I wouldn't pick either as my only book, but if you're going with one, take the bigger one. I tire of lugging it around, but that's me.
