Regional Passes

When I visited Europe in 2011, I was able to take advantage of a KONUS card which gave me "Free" travel on buses and trains while I was at my hotel in Staufen and on the day I left there for Switzerland, all the way to Basel if my memory serves me right. This year my friend and I will be in Freiburg so I assume that we will have the use of the KONUS card again. I was wondering if any other areas we are visiting have a similar type pass. These are the cities/villages we plan to visit:

Thank you for your help.

You cannot get the KONUS card in Freiburg. You need to stay in one of these 139 villages; Kirchzarten is "KONUS" and very close to Frankfurt:

I don't know of other no-cost transport offers where you'll be traveling. Nuremberg's transit authority (VGN) has a very inexpensive group daypass (around 16€ for 2) for daytrips to Bamberg, Rothenburg, and other places in the VGN network. This daypass, the Tagesticket Plus is actually valid for 2 days if the days are Sat. & Sun.:

In Garmisch (not far from Innsbruck) your "Kurkarte" (get it from your inn or hotel) will get you free area bus transport (I don't know exactly how extensive) and use of the "Schnee-express" train route to Vils, Austria. You also get free admission to two spas and some discounts around town. Info below is in German - use a translator?
