Regent's Hotel

My husband and I are traveling to France/Germany in September. Four nights in Paris. After looking at 1 million different hotels, I finally decided on Regent's Hotel due to an article I saw in Frommers Budget Travel. Anyone stayed there? or know of it?
We wanted something reasonable, like under 200E (we will only sleep there)- and walking distance to many sights.

This is very old information, but it may be useful. We stayed at a Best Western hotel named Regents Garden (6 rue Pierre Demours) the fist time we went to Paris - which was perhaps 20 years ago. I see it is still listed in the BW book. At that point, it was a charming and comfortable hotel. The BW book still lists it as 3 star. I remember arriving and seeing the BW sign, and wondering what we had done, but BW in Europe is very different from the Us. It is just an association for hote owners, and we have found many charming BW hotels in Europe. My memory is that it is not far from the Arc de Triomphe. This is not my location of choice now, but it is a fine location. If the Regents hotel is a different hotel, then I have just given you totally useless information. But thanks, it brought me some nice memories, includng the fact that I blew a major fuse in the hotel because I used a hair dryer that was not okay in Europe.

Sorry epi, I believe searose meant the Regent's Hotel on Rue Madame in the 6th district.

Information about the hotel can be found at www.france-hotel-guide.com with direct email to the hotel via this site. It's one of the 2* hotel selections. It doesn't have its own website.

The Regent's Garden is indeed a different hotel, in the 16th. It was built by Napoleon III for his physician and and now a very pleasant hotel in a nice neighborhood. Some of the rooms are quite large, and there's a lovely garden behind the house.

Sorry, searose, but it was fun to remember.

There are at least three hotels with "regent" in the name in Paris, but Regent's Hotel on rue Madame is a 2* good value budget hotel. There have been several good comments on here by some who stayed there and it's a great location. I think the france-hotel-guide.com web site is the one they consider their main web presence as it's the one they gave the tourist office.
