Refuse to iron in Paris!

Does hanging jackets on hangers inside cleaner bags then folded over work?
What about rolling slacks? Skirts?
Any tips are really appreciated.
Thanks,
Dari

Yes, rolling helps, but just to be sure, don't take any fabrics that crease easily. In fact, just take Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dresses; they look fabulous and never crease.

In the past I have found that hanging/packing clothes inside plastic bags does help some as does rolling trousers, etc., Seems to reduce wrinkles but doesn't necessarily eliminate them entirely.

This past month when in Switzerland I removed some garments packed as you have suggested and what REALLY helped was to hang them in the bathroom and steam them..works like a charm every time for me.

It all depends on the fabric. You should not have any problems with knits. Gabardine or twill-type fabrics that have a little spandex or nylon in them should also be fine, although they'll be better after a little hanging.

With rayon or silk, a few minutes hung in a steamy bathroom should work. Some cottons and linens may wrinkle in an unsightly way, but others won't.

I just fold my jackets, I don't put them on hangars unless I'm using a garment bag (which is rare). I roll skirts and t-shirts; have never rolled slacks. With slacks I hold them by the creases (or where the creases would be) and then fold either by thirds or fourths, depending on the pants.

unless you want an excuse for buying an entirely new wardrobe!!!

HI
I just use the plastic, I don't use the hangers as they are rigid and take up even more room.
The good news is that the plastic takes up a lot of room too, so on the way home when I don't care, I chuck the plastic and have more room in my suitcase for acquisitions.

If your budget permits, I love the luxury of having the hotel arrange for pressing, if needed. Linen items are poor travelers.

Thanks everyone. The steaming sounds like the answer.

I do take jackets on hangers, primarily because it speeds the unpacking process but also because it helps with the wrinkles. That works well with long dresses, too, as it makes folding over and over a little smoother.

I don;t bother with the hangars or plastic bags - just seameverything in the shower. This works for anything short of linen - which I won;t travel with.
