Recommends for Chianti Region?
 

We, two Italy-loving grandparents ,have decided to stay on in Italy( last leg of family trip) for another two weeks after our sons and family leave for home (Canada) on August 16.
By this time we will have spent 1 week with 3 wonderful granddaughters (10, 11 and 13) in Paris , Bruges; then the arrival of the girl's parents and visiting Holland , Germany and Italy for the remaining 2
weeks.
We will probably be ready for some downtime !!!!

We are thinking of going into the Chianti region from Umbria(Nocera Umbra). Does anyone have recommends for staying in apartments , reasonably priced agriturismos , or renovated farmhouses?Nothing too pricey.
We don't want to pay more than 100 eruos per night.
We have been looking at one in Radda ,however not sure of this one?Although , the others just seem to cost a lot more .
Would appreciate any suggestions.

My wife and I went to Tuscany last year and we stayed at a place right outside Castellina in Chianti and that was a great home base. We had a car and it was very easy to get around. Worth searching on Tuscany in this site as there are some great visit reports with much of you want. Lots of interest in St Querico

San Quirico d'Orcia is in a lovely area of Tuscany, but not in the Chianti area.

Can you post a link to the Radda apartment? Maybe we can give you some feedback.

Will you have a car? This could affect your choice of town, and location in or out of town, as you will want some form of transportation.

Self-catering (weekly rate) castello di gargonza has apartments in your price range - the location is amazing. Id spring for a little more and rent an apartment in one of the small houses on the property.

This is the link to the cottage in Radda that is priced very well , however I am a bit claustophobic and it appears to have few windows, realizing at the same time ,that it is not big and of course that is fine.www.lebonatte.it

We will be renting a car to get around and sightsee.

I will definitely be looking at Castello di Gargonza , looks very interesting.I have looked at so many sites , however I never saw this.

I will also look up St.Querico as recommended.

There are several places that might meet your requirements listed on the Greve site - market town of the Chianti Classico wine zone. With or without a car, there are good, inexpensive options. http://www.greve-in-chianti.com The going rate for a couple is 65 to 70 euros. If staircaes represent a potential annoyance, check with the owners. Tuscan houses almost by definition are full of them!

My husband and I (also Italy-loving grandparents) just just outside of Radda each year.

Le Selvole is a couple of miles from town and is a spectacular Villa and property. The building has four 2 bedroom apartments and two 1 bedroom surrounded by 13 acres of grounds that have been loving taken care of by the family. Flowers everywhere, a pool, 500 olive trees, patios for each apartment, Italian BBQ and all fenced. AND the prices are very very affordable.

Just letting everyone know that we ended up booking La Piazzetta on Chianti Rental.com.

It looks good(apartment) and is also in Barberino
Val D'Elsa; it offers a garden for eating and sitting which the other did not.Cost is 430 euros per week.
