Recommended Lodgings in Bayeux and Dinan

We got back from our (great, fabulous, delightful) 2-1/2 week trip to France last week. While I have not yet had time to do a trip report (but I hope to), I thought I'd post random thoughts when I could.

So, for anyone who is now planning a trip: Let me highly recommend the Hotel D'Argouges in Bayeux and Le Logis du Jerzual in Dinan. D'Argouges is a converted mansion in the heart of Bayeux; it's situated in a courtyard, with parking just behind. Our room was large (double bed and a single), airy, overlooked a garden just coming into bloom. Le Logis du Jerzual is on a steep, winding, medieval street -- a bit tricky to find and to get your car to (but it can be done!), but worth it. Lovely, very old, building in a garden setting; just five rooms -- ours was very large and comfortable, with a view (over the steep, winding street and the roofs of the town) that we never tired of.

The staff at both hotels was warm, friendly, charming, helpful. Le Logis has a web site; not sure if D'Argouges does, but you can find at least one picture of it on Trip Advisor. If you'd like to know more, let me know.

I know how hard it is to make choices, so I thought it might be helpful to pass this on.

Thanks for the hotel recommendations. I will bookmark them for our trip next spring! Looking forward to your trip report!

Kagoo,
Thanks for your hotel recommendations in Bayeux. We are going there next week, so I'll check them out.

My wife and I and some friends stayed at D'Argoouges in Bayeux and thoroughly enjoyed it. Your description tells it all. You might add (for Zamba) that it is just steps off the main street and a short walk to the Cathedral and the Bayeux Tapestry and to the nice places to eat, drink, and people watch on that main street.

I just called the hotel d'Argouges, and the only room available was a bit trop chere. I'm looking for next week, BTW. Any other suggestions for Bayeux or anywhere between Mont St. Michel and Bayeux? Thanks!

We stayed at Lion D'Or but understand that next week is the anniversary of D-Day and it may be tougher finding hotel rooms.
