Recommendations for 'Special' romantic restaurant in Florence or Venice (plus baby!)

I would like to book a special dinner for my husband and I while we are away in Florence and Venice- preferably something with a great view as well as good food (not always compatible elements). We will have with us an 18 month old baby (what are we thinking!), so need to keep that into consideration. Any ideas?

Yes, what are you thinking?

Not only is the child likely to spoil your romantic evening, but those of the other patrons as well.

Why not save the special night out for when you don't have to bring the baby?

Why not get take out and eat on your balcony? The babe can sleep right next to you in your room. This can be very romantic in Florence.

thanks. yes do plan to do some balcony eating but just wanted a night out (or lunch) at some stage somewhere special but doesn't have to be ultra posh or formal place - just good food really

The Cave di Maiano near Fiesole has a beautiful view of Florence and great food. Very casual but the setting and food will make it special. Since it's just about all outdoor seating, you can leave the baby in the stroller right next to you although they have high chairs as well. Great for lunch.
