Recommendations for moderate-priced hotels in London?
 

I'd like to pay no more than $150-$165 (100pounds) for a single in London. Any suggestions for a decent hotel with a bath or shower at that price?

Priceline is a very good option for London as the city is divided into decent segments. You will need to make some decisions as to where you want to stay in London, the tube is very convenient. Looks like you shouldn't have problems getting a 3* if your dates are decent. Good Luck!

Hotwire is also very good for London. My son and I got the Holiday Inn Express Earls Court for $49 a night in June. We were very happy with it but I'm guessing it's probably farther out than you want to be. However, there were several other choices closer in for not much more. (We went with that one because it included breakfast.)

yes - definitely Priceline or Hotwire. And especially so for a single. You will get a double room so it will be larger than any single. You can get a full service 4-star hotel in central london for less than $100.

Before you book anything, go to Trip Advisor and check out the reviews. Doing that saved me some serious mistakes in London. I would recommend booking.com as a site to likely save some money, or maybe hotels.com.
Again, before you book, check the hotels out at tripadvisor.com. Millions use it every week.
We are staying at St. Margaret's Hotel in Bloomsbury in September. The reviews are excellent, as is the price.
It is a B&B which offers a full English breakfast which is included in the price.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I keep checking trip advisor. Having a heads-up about real conditions keeps me from making serious mistakes.

I notice that when I look at the customer comments on a hotel's website and then check trip advisor, there's often a discrepancy, with trip advisor reporting problems that are not on the hotel's website.

This is hard work. I'm going to Bath for a couple of days, then London for a couple of days (to see specific sights) then to Germany and Austria. On past trips, my sister has made all the arrangements, and I had no real idea how much work it involved.

When I've traveled alone in the past, the dollar was in better shape and I didn't have to be so picky about choosing a hotel that wouldn't cost an outrageous amount.

I'm going to check out St. Margaret's Hotel.
