Recommendations for car rental lisbon return porto

Arriving Lisbon wish to rent a car as we are leaving Lisbon with a return in Porto. I have a basic distrust of car rental companies and would appreciate recommendations as to who we should avoid and whom we should patronize. All advice appreciated. Thanks

We used Avis and were very satisfied with the service. Thanks to the EU, Portugal has excellent roads, and it will be an easy drive to Porto.

I concur with burta, Avis is probably the best one there.

I did the reverse, using Autoeurope.com as the broker. You could also use Kemwel.com. They are sister companies but have slightly different rental agreements with the rental agencies. For example, in Norway the agencies provided by Kemwel charged a one way fee whereas the rental agency provided by Autoeurope had a higher rental fee which came out still lower than Kemwel's agency because there was no one way surcharge.

If unfamiliar with rentals abroad, I strongly recommend using one of these brokers.

I recently used AutoEurope to rent a car from Rome to Catania Sicily. In this case there was no drop off fee. I'm told most rentals do not charge a drop off fee if it is in the same country but certainly don't swear to it. Most the time AutoEurope uses Europecar but my last rental in Spain was with Hertz. Have had good luck with AutoEurope

I have a car booked with Holiday Autos in September to,pick up at the Lisbon airport and drop at the Porto airport. They were recommended on another thread, so hoping for the best.
