recommendations for Bamberg

I'm going from Munich to Berlin by train in mid June and have 1 day and night to spend somewhere in Franconia /Bavaria. Anyone has recommendations? Bamberg looks/sounds wonderful -- is it touristy? Any suggestions for reasonable place to stay? Thanks!

bilbo;

Hotel Burg? In Bamberg? I've never heard of that one Any chance you have the hotel or the city confused?

rycdi;
Bamberg is wonderful. You have heard of it, others have heard of it, so yes there are tourists. Not hordes, though.

The Rathaus is on my list of the coolest buildings in the world. I never fail to get goosebumps and have a big smile crack my face when I see it from the bridge on Geyerswoerthstrasse. And the Dom is magnificent - one of those structures that makes you feel insignificant. A big somber place.

Check out Hotel Brudermuehle, Barock Hotel am Dom, and Hotel Weierich.
