Recommendations for a hotel in Positano
My husband and I will be traveling to the Amafi Coast over Labor Day. Both San Pietro and Le Serinuse are booked. Can anyone recommend a hotel on the higher end side???

2 weeks ago on the Positano ferry we met a younger couple who were staying here. I think they loved it.

I second the Santa Caterina, which is just outside Amalfi.
If that is full, the Cappuccini Convento in Amalfi has finally re-opened and looks very luxe! I would stay there in a heartbeat! http://www.nh-hotels.it/nh/it/hotels...di-amalfi.html |

PS. What you appear to be looking for are the type of hotel that is classed as "5-star Grand Luxe."
Surprisingly, there are not all that many of these properties on the coast, although there are several in Ravello, the two in Positano that are booked, and the two in Amalfi that I mentioned above. Le Agavi, located in the hills above Positano, might be worth checking out since you appear to be set on being in, or near, Positano, although I know nothing about it. The rating is 5 stars but not grand luxe. These ratings, by the way, are strictly government categories and are not often accurately reflective of the actual experience, but when you get into the 5-star luxe category you can be just about assured that the place adheres to high standards. http://www.leagavi.it/homeeng.html |
Look at the Poseidon and Palazzo Murat in Positano. Both have great locations.

I will do that and look into the these other hotels mentioned. Does anyone think staying in Capri makes more sense over Positano?
|
No !

I stayed in the Poseidon last July and can thoroughly recommend that hotel. Stunning views of the town and coastline. Great breakfast buffet. Dinner was great. Poolside snacks were delicious. Beautiful (though small) pool area and great and attentive staff. I would definitely stay there again.

I loved The Poseidon, too, as I mentioned on your other post.
