Recommendations between Tuscany and Rome?

We are spending 3 weeks traveling down from Nice to Rome for our honeymoon. I have my trip planned out down through Tuscany but am having trouble finding anything great between Tuscany to Rome. Any ideas that don't take us too far off the main road or railway?

Saturnia, Port' Ercole, Isola de Giglio (romantic!)

Between WHERE in Tuscany and Rome? If you're traveling by rail, it's only 95 minutes from Florence to Rome.

Do you really need an intermediate stop?

Whatever your decision, congratulations on your new life in marriage... and ...

Best wishes,

Rex
[email protected]
Southern Tuscany, very rural some towns are a little touristed such as mantalcino other
areas such as mt. Amiata are not much visited by Americans,Castiglione d Orcia,St. Antimo aslo in area it would be an easy drive to Rome.Need a car here if you don't have one already pick one up from www.autoeurope.com in Florence and turn it in on the outskirts of rome,Bob the Navigator would know the name of that location.I promise you that this area is beautiful and quiet also great food and wine! I found a place to stay on a olive farm with very nice rooms in Castiglione d Orcia post if interested.RR
