Recommend accomodation by airport in Nice France

We have a 7am flight from Nice to Venice in June. It would be nice to stay right by the airport in Nice the night before. Any suggestions for accomodations by the airport?

We like the Novotel, which has a free shuttle service. The hotel is just across the road from the airport, and there is a good restaurant.

same main road leads directly into town only a very short distance away...cheapo taxi fare.

I stayed at the Novotel last fall. It was fine. Used the shuttle to the airport.

Novotel sounds good, but do you know that town is only about 15 minutes from the airport? If you arrange ahead with your hotel, you should be fine if you want to stay somewhere else that night.

I booked at Novotel, thank you Underhill. It will be nice to have a free airport shuttle, and to be so close with an early flight.

Also, for the first two nights we are there, any recommendations on where to stay near the water reasonable priced? Preferrably no more than $120 per night? And we are wanting to visit Monaco, etc., is it true that we should stay in Nice and just take day trips?

If you are already staying in Nice, do you really want to move to another hotel just for one night? The difference in travel time to the airport is perhaps about 20 minutes at that time. There might be a free shuttle, but you have to move from your hotel in Nice to the airport anyway, so there seems to be no cost and little time savings by moving to an airport hotel. If one is arriving in Nice late at night and flying out perhaps 10 hours later, it would make sense to stay at the airport. Depending on when you are thinking of moving to the airport hotel, you would be foregoing one more evening in Nice in order to save about 20 minutes on the departure day.

Whether you "should" stay in Nice to do day trip is your personal taste. You "can" easily visit nearby cities, Monte Carlo, Eze Village, Antibe, Cap Ferrat, Villefrance, etc., from Nice. If you are on lower budget, staying in Monte Carlo is not a good option.

After spending two weeks in Nice, we left and spent another month in Italy but returned to NICE airport for an early flight the next morning. We dropped off our rental car and stayed at the Suite Novotel at the airport and took their shuttle to the airport in the morning.. We took the bus into Nice for dinner. During our earlier two weeks in Nice we had looked at the airport choices and thought this was the best for us. It was very nice and we had a view of the tropical gardens at the zoo. It was mush less expensive than staying in Nice proper.

How near the water? No hotels in Nice are actually near the sea; the nearest are behind the 6-lane Promenade des Anglais. With your budget, you might have difficulty in finding a hotel in that area. Try venere.com (and soon!).
