Recommend a romantic boutique hotel in the Oltrarno area

Hi all,
We're planning a 10-day honeymoon in Italy this September. We love history and great food but want to avoid the heaviest crowds. Can anyone recommend a romantic boutique hotel in the Oltrarno area of Florence for under $400/night?
Thanks in advanec.

I can recommend three (all owned by the same couple). AdAstra ( I have stayed here and loved it) It is an 18th century palazzo, the hotel has several floors in it and the Marchese and family still live in it. It has one of the largest private gardens in Europe which you are not allowed to walk around in as the owner still uses it, however you can request to be given a tour of it, which we did and it was lovely. You can have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the garden every day. You will feel very peaceful there but are a short walk from everything.
On the Oltrarno side they also own Oltrarno Splendid and Soprarno Suites. I have not stayed there but have stayed in their property on Via Tornabuoni in the centre of town, Stella d'Italia.

All of their properties have romantic and quirky/bohemian furnishings and include a good breakfast. I think they are in your price range, I took a quick look at pricing.

If you really wanted to push the boat out budget wise for a gorgeous hotel with swimming pool on that side of the river I highly recommend Villa Cora.

I've stayed here twice - https://palazzoguicciardini.it/

Note that it is not a full-service hotel, it is a residenza, and there's no ground floor lobby, etc. Maybe not what you're looking for if it's your first trip to Italy. Both rooms I had were huge, gorgeous, and definitely had that historical feel.

Hi there,
The Oltrarno Splendid is a B&B recommended by several guidebooks. I had marked it down, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Thanks so much for the help.
We decided to book AdAstra because that 18th-century palazzo vibe and the garden terrace look perfect for our honeymoon.

Glad to hear it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Staff are very good at recommending places for dinner and making the booking for you.
