Recomendations on Restaurants in Positano

My husband and I are planing a trip to Positano in July. We'll be staying at the Villa Rosa for 4 nights. Any tips on great restaurants. Is it necessary to make reservations ahead of time or should we wait until we arrive? Thanks

I was in Positano in May.

We loved La Tagliata-they are not expensive and located up on the hill above Positano. They will send a car for you. Great atmosphere

'OGuarracino was great for Pizza.

Valle Dei Mulini in the town center was also well priced and recommended by locals.

Chez Black is fun to hang out in-we just had pizza.

Donna Rosa is great-but more expensive.

We did not make reservations-but May is less crowded then July.

Have a wonderful trip!

Debra,

My husband and I really enjoyed Bruno's . It is around (just past?) Le Sirenuese and is so yummy. The other night my husband wished he could be transported there to enjoy a green olive pasta they have. Really good and it is a fight to get a table outside.

We also enjoyed La Cambusa right in the town center. They have wonderful mozzerella and therefore great caprese salads. I also enjoyed their mussel (is that spelled correctly?) soup/stew.

My, it brings back wonderful memories! I hope you enjoy your stay and I am sure you will not go wrong with your food choices.

Jessica

We dined at the Covo dei Saraceni hotel restaurant on the beach and had a lovely sunset meal. We made our reservation at the hotel desk (we were there just last week). I've heard Max's is also outstanding - right off the main walking path down to the beach.

Hi Debra,

So glad to hear that you are going to Positano. I visited in April and it is spectacular. There is a new restaurant in Priano (15 minutes from Positano) called La Strada that was superb. The chef came from Palazzo Murat in Positano (very swanky hotel), but the prices are 1/2 that, and the atmosphere and service were just wonderful.

I wrote up my restaurant, shopping and sightseeing tips on fodors.com. If you type in "kiki" you will get all the scoop that you need!

have fun!

-
Valle Dei Mulini, yummmy. Had an excellent meal there during a '99 trip to Italy. I was in Positano in April, so can't say if you'll need reservations. Gut instinct is yes, you'll be there during height of the summer.
