recomendation fo a village in Crete

Hi
Last minute decision I am travelling tomorrow to Create alone. I would like to stay in a beatiful quiet but not too quiet:) village.
I won't rent a car so I need public transportation accees.
Any great recomendations?

Look at Vamos about 25km from Chania. Or Georgiopolis. We had a car and do not know about public transportation there.
Chania is not a village but is historic and is on the water. There would be better transit opportunities from there.
On Crete’s the southern coast, take a bus over the White Mountains to Chora Skafion from Chania, and a ferry to Loutro for a special experience.

You might consider Archanes, which is about a half an hour from Heraklion. Lovely village with tavernas and shops. Since we had a car, I don't recall if it is serviced by public transportation, but it might be worth a look.

Interesting idea! Archanes is accessible by public transportation from Heraklion.

A bit late, though. The OP wrote “travelling tomorrow”, and that was on August 1st.

@ Heimdall: As is so often the case, details can be nasty little beasts!
