Antica Taverna are also open all year - has anyone an opinion on it? (Im seeing mixed reviews)>>

I've eaten there twice, once at the suggestion of the owner of our apartment about 3 years ago, and again this year because we'd liked it the first time.

the review that i read that wasn't happy was about the service, not the food, but this is a Rome taverna, not the Ritz! it is very popular with locals, serves good local food, and has a fun atmosphere, especially sitting outside.

as for il fico, we ate inside - it was February when we were in Rome! [antica Taverna has a plastic covered terrace so it's possible to eat outside any time but Il Fico is exposed to the elements.

hope this helps!

We will be in Rome during Oct 8-16 and have made a list of the restaurants mentioned in this thread. I have made reservations at few of them, but cannot make any headway on the website for Il Fico...any advice on this one? I will be waiting for your reviews of the restaurants that you experience. Hope you have a wonderful time!

we didn't book at Il fico for either night we ate there, but it was February.

they may be on holiday of course. or perhaps you are using the wrong link.

try this one:

http://www.ilfico.com/prenota.php

or call in one day when you are there and book a table for the night you want.

For dessert, don't miss the tartuffo at Tre Scalini, right on the piazza.

HelenG did you already email [email protected]? Will double check in morning when I'm at my computer to see how they confirmed and how long it took...
Will let you know how it goes!
I had no luck booking Osteria dell'Ingegno until I booked through diningcity.com then I received confirmation a day later if that's of any interest, seems to take a while to get replies from some

Donna - bene!

I'm sure that you will enjoy the food there. I can't remember what I had but DS had some lamb cutlets that he must have liked a lot, because I STILL remember that, 3 years later!

If you go to Hostaria Costanza, try the zabaione....truly remarkable.

If you go to Ditirambo, be wary of the lamb chops. It was all chop and very little lamb.

Also recommend Cul de Sac and Armando al Pantheon.
