Recom. for Hotels in Rome under $350 USD per night

My hubby are are going to Rome soon and need suggestions for a nice hotel under $350 USD per night, preferably near the Spanish Steps...Any suggestions?
Is it possible to stay at a 4 star hotel in Rome for this amount? I would love a hotel that has a balcony attached to your room or at least a courtyard to relax in after shopping or sight-seeing. Thanks!!

A lot depends on dates and promotions. I recommend window shopping at www.venere.com - - you can make inquiries (generally), check specific availability (and price), as well as book (or even cancel) with complete confidence in the reliability.

Best wishes,

Rex
Venere seems only to have a select number of hotels so I prefer www.itwg.com You can't book all the hotels you see on line, but they have loads of hotels with all of the contact info and pricing. For $350 a night you should be able to get a selection of 4 star choices.

It's not near the Spanish Steps, but we love the Hotel Raphael. We had a great room w/ a small balcony. Services, bar, and restaurant were all great. The location just off Piazza Navona was perfect for us; centrally located to most sites and full of action.
Have a great trip,
j.

My first trip to Rome I was convinced that I wanted to be at the Spanish steps and picked Hotel Internazionale near the top of the steps. It was not a good experience!!! Since then I've stayed at Hotel Raphael and loved it. I even think the location is better, unless you are into a lot of shopping. There are not balcony rooms, but there is a wonderful roof top bar -- although the hours of operation are pretty hit and miss, you can go up there and relax any time.

I agree you will find lots of possiblities recommended on this board for well below that amount. One that sounds like it might fit your description in terms of location and view is Scalinata di Spagna..recommended by Frommers.
