Reception closes at 7pm?
This will be my first trip to Italy and I just recieved an email from Vignamaggio in Chianti and it says "WE INFORM YOU THAT THE RECEPTION CLOSES AT 7 P.M.".
Does this mean we need to check in before that time (which is fine) or does this mean that we have to be in our rooms by that time because no one can let you into the building? I apologize if this is a dumb question. Thank you, Mimma |
I've stayed at small hotels where the reception is not open 24/7. They will give you a key to the outside door, so no, you do not have to be in by 7. And this is not a dumb question.

One more thing--yes, you do need to check in by 7 unless other arrangements are made.

Wow, that was a quick response.
Thanks so much. I guess the biggest disadvantage would be if there is a problem, we can't get any assistance until the next morning. |
Mimms,
You probably can easily get assistance after 7pm. The owners will not be far away. They may be in the next room. Owners have these kinds of policies so they are not chained to a desk all night, or gotten out of bed by travelers who think it is OK to arrive at 2 in the morning. I'm sure you can get a cell phone number where the owners will be if you need them during the night. |
