On Dollar I just used TARR for some great savings. It's funny, because I couldn't remember where I got it or what was required. After I booked a car with that code, I called the local Dollar office to make sure it wasn't something I'd need some special ID for. They really didn't know, but said there was nothing on the reservation that said I had to show or prove anything.

Otherwise, I've been getting my best quotes through Costco travel -- mainly with Avis, but also with Budget.

Check http://www.holidayautos.com.

Often their rates are better than the rates with discount codes. I found that holidayautos has usually better rates than autoeurope.

Thanks traveller1959 !!! I just did a check for a car that I need for 17 days in France, starting in June and returning in July and it beet my best price so far by $300.00!!!!! Wow, that's great. I assume that you have used them and they are reliable? The website also states that they are affiliated with travelocity?

>have used them
More than 10 times, never had a problem so far. In the US you usually get Alamo or National. In Europe last time it was Hertz.

susanna, are you from the US? If you need a car for 17 days in France, have you checked AutoFrance or other "tax free lease plans"? As they guarantee you a brand new car of your specific choice and include all insurance, they are often a great deal. 17 days is their minimum rental period.

The Holiday people want $50 more than the rate I got from www.kemwel.com for my upcoming trip.

((I))

>$50 more
Holidayautos offer CDW with zero deductible included in the price.
Just what I need. :-).

logos999 Apr 22nd, 2008 11:51 AM

Underbody and wheels also included in the CDW.

As logos said, Holidayautos collaborates with the big international rental car companies.

The biggest German automobile club ADAC (the partner club of AAA) recommends Holidayautos.

They are absolutely reliable.

I found out that they are OFTEN the least expensive. E.g. I just rented a minivan for England, and they were the only who offered full coverage AND automatic AND a/c while something was missing with other companies. Always read the fine print very carefully.

Well, I said they are OFTEN the least expensive, not ALWAYS. Better check. But I have learnt to start with Holidayautos.
