Recent Paris Weather
I'll be in Paris in two weeks and am concerned about the weather. I saw a recent
news broadcast of possible flooding.

Any news on this?

Thanks.
Gloria

It has been a very wet, mild winter, and there has been moderate flooding in many parts of France - - not enough to render any (or maybe just a few) people homeless (briefly?); traffic on the river Seine in Paris (les bateaux-mouches) has been eliminated for two weeks or thereabouts, because the Seine is too high (boats can't get under the bridges). On the Ile de la Cite, the water has come right up onto the (lower) downstream end (tip) of the island, though it may be back down now. Traffic jams from impassable roads have occurred only on a few days, as far as I can gather from news stories. Generally, the rivers are dropping this week, though slowly.

Hope this is useful to you.

Best wishes,

Rex
Gloria: Within two weeks, everything can change. I would say, spring is in the air in Europe....

PS: We already switched to "summer-time" (daylight-saving time)last weekend...
...we don't give up, even after a rainy March!
Am posting this now from Paris-Rain, rain and more rain! Today is our first sunny, mild day in the last 8. Sun has finally come out (hurrah!) but still no boat traffic permitted on the Seine. Some museums (d'Orsay yesterday, Cluny today) closing earlier due to the RER strike. Metro running normally. Bring an umbrella and wool clothing just in case! Bought a long warm, lined black trench coat at Bon Marche yesterday-a necessity this week!

My son called from Paris this AM and said the weather was fabulous..70 degrees and sunny.

It's been pretty bad and there has been some flooding but the weather there is so unpredictable you never know what it will do tomorrow, much less in two weeks. Nothing you can do about it anyhow. But bring umbrellas (as always). For more Paris information e-mail me- [email protected]
