Recent Paris Apartment Experiences? Looking for a 2 bedroom.
 

I have been looking everywhere for a Paris apartment with 2 bedrooms that is in the 1500 Euros or less per week range. I have looked at slowtrav and other sites but now I must admit that I am just confused. I would prefer an apartment recommended by someone on this site and I have seen many recommended studios and 1 bedroom apartments but very few that have 2 bedrooms.

We will be travelling with our 2 sons ages 20 and 23 years and paying most of the bill so we would like to try to keep accommodation expenses down if possible. We are open to all areas of Paris but of course would prefer the 6th. Can you help? Thanks!

We recently stayed in VRBO # 15502, a 2 bedroom in the Marais, half a block from Place Des Voges. The rent is 1400 euros per week, 2 large bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 2 singles. The kitchen was well equipped and included a separate washer and dryer, very rare in Paris. We had free internet and calling back to Canada.

David requires half the rent up front (you can pay by credit card) and half on arrival. No security deposit other than your OK to have your credit card charged if there are any damages.

The apartment could use some updating, but the beds were comfortable, we had plenty of hot water for 4 adults and the location could not be beat.

We just stayed in this two bedroom http://frenchyrentals.com/stlazare.html for two months. It's a great location close to bus and metro, located at the foot of rue Martyrs--- a great market street. The price is 1200 euros a week. Paula, the owner of Frenchy Rentals has other two bedrooms available. I especially like the location of the 3 bedroom apartment on rue Caulaincourt and it's 1300 euros a week. It's not far from the metro and is on the #80 busline. I know these are not in the 6th but the public transportation in Paris is so easy to use. Happy hunting!

We stayed in a huge 3 bedroom apartment in the Marais recently.That one is a bit more pricey than what you are looking for, but this site/agency, which features only Marias properties, has lots of great looking 2 bedroom apartments and also 2 bedroom apartments with pullout couches. http://www.parisautrement.com You can search for the larger apartment by putting in, say, 5 or 6 as the number of people, and then the list of larger apartments will pop up. Ours was as beautiful in person as it was online. The agency answers your questions promptly. Be aware that they will try and charge you for things like checking in late or on a on a Sunday, but they quickly waived an advertised fee for leaving earlier in the morning than they would like. Also, it would be cheaper to hire a taxi than use their car service. We did on the way, which was nice and mindless, but we grabbed a cab for the ride back to the airport and paid about 15 euros less for it. (Too the Metro everywhere else.) Good luck and have fun.

Me again. This particular apartment set up might work for you; it's actually two apartment in same buidling. Might be nice if your "boys" plan to stay out late. :)

(P.s. I have no affiliation with this agency, just love their site and had a good experience with them over Thanksgiving week. But I can't compare them to any other French rental agency. I found them through the Home Away site; seemed like every apartment I liked was theirs. I corresponded with Ludovic, who was very responsive.

The apartment we rented through this agency is no longer for rent - it was close to Place Monge. We loved the area and especially the agency.

Here's a nice @B smack in the middle of St. Germain, but it only falls into your budget if you are going during low season (and stay 7 nights).

This is on my list for "next time" (We rented #235 VacationinParis for this coming June, but only because it was one of the few flats available during our needed time that would rent for 3 days only. )

Aussie_10 r recommended the above VRBO #196919 in her recent trip reoort. It is in great area--not quite in the 6th (it's in the 5th, near "la Rue Mouffe" Rue Mouffetard with its marvelous market and cobblestone street. Cost= 1100 Euros per week, plus 75 euros cleaning fee--within your desired budget!

As proof of how everyone is different.. but we had a different reaction to the first flat mentioned above, VRBO 15502. Not recommended. It lacks a certain "je ne sais quoi" of TLC that other flats we've stayed at have. The living room looked little like the website-no carpet--just a dingy old wood floor. Lacked "warmth" for lack of better word( tho the bedrooms were large and very nice .) David the owner is lovely...but I think for the price, you cold get closer to the area where you want to be, and in a place where yo and your sons will be happier as a family.

The residence Prince Regent is very nice. The appartments with two bedrooms are out of your budget, but they have appartments with one room and a sofa-bed. If I advise you this residence it's because their appartments are absolutly wonderful, moderne, and full equipped ! It's in the Latin Quarter, in the 6th :). And plus, there is a SPA in the residence! It's amazing :). http://www.leprinceregent.com .

The homeaway apartment that follows is perfect for the 4 of you. The bedrooms are seperated by the living room, offering privacy. One has an ensuite bathroom, the other access the large main bathroom off the entry hall. We just stayed here and loved it!

Wow, Seafox--what a grat flat!!! Will save this, and it is so lovely, it might be worth staying in the Marais (not my fav neighborhod) for. What street is it on? Also, rates for it, for nearly all seasons are abov theOP's desired maximum...but this one looks worth it--ro maybe the Euro will lose value!

We rented the Passy apartment from Paris Pied a Terre in 2006 for ourselves and our 3 older kids. It is a 2 bedroom and in the 1500 euro a week range. It was very nice and across from the Eiffel Tower in the 16th in the Passy neighborhood. They were very easy to work with.

This apt may not be suitable for you and your boys, as each bedroom has one large bed only.

Imagine direct access to the gardens of the Palais Royal, through the French doors of your living room!

Yeah, there wd be people walking about during the day -- but nighttime could be magical.

I bookmarked this site long ago -- the company gets raves -- but have never yet stayed there.

They have other pricier, larger properties in the Palais Royal too.

CaliNurse - as i recall the rates vary by Season but were in the $2300/wk range as a starting point. the apartment is on rue des Archives, just a couple of blocks beyond BHV.

TedGale - we have stayed in the Paris Vacation apartment that you noted and enjoyed it very much. The location can not be beat and there's nothing more fun then sipping champagne in you living room with the doors open while passers by peak in wondering "who are they".... the stairs area bit narrow and something to be aware of, however the triplex set-up works quite well. They have other apartments in Palais Royal as well. The 3 bedroom is a slice of heaven IMO.
