reasonably priced hotel near theatre district in London

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel near the theatre district in London? We will be staying for only one night. I know hotels in London are very expensive but I'm hoping someone will have a suggestion or two.

What do you consider "reasonably" priced? What is your actual budget?

Also which play/show are you seeing? There is no one single theatre district -- Covent Garden/Drury Lane, Piccadilly Circus/Soho, Haymarket, Victoria, the south bank . . and several other areas have theatres.

Reasonable for me would be under $200. I'm not sure about the theatre - having trouble trying to get decent tickets (without restricted view seats) for Phantom of the Opera. We may just go to the last minute ticket booth and see what's available.

Since there isn't just one theatre district (as in NYC), I'd settle for something centrally located.

Not a lot of options in that pricey neighborhood at that budget. Here's one - double, en-suite, for $170/night.:

Be aware that the last min tix booths usually do NOT have seating charts to show you. If you can get hold of seating charts, bring it with you, lest you find yourself sitting behind a column and craning your neck during the show.

No need to bring seating charts. TKTS at Leicester Sq definitely does have seating charts for the theaters. Plus the folks selling the tickets know the theatres like the back of their hands so can give you advice about the sight lines etc.

That is TKTS in Leicester Sq -- don't use any of the other "half price" agencies.

Second the TKTS box -- best place to get the tickets. Every nearby offer smacks of illegitimacy, like all those cheap electronics stores on 5th Avenue in NYC.

And NYC has plenty of theater outside the theater district -- off broadway, off-off broadway, etc. ;-)
