Reasonably priced hotel central Rome
 

Hello,
We are spending a week plus in Rome in October and ask if anyone can recommend a reasonably priced hotel (not air b and b) relatively centrally, don't want to pay more than EU 150 per night. 200 Euros
Would appreciate any help

Two friends of mine stayed at Hotel Quirinale in June. They were happy with it, central location, they said it was clean, there is a nice looking courtyard.

Hotel Parliamento used to be reasonable and in a great location but you would have to check today's prices....

Granted its been years since I checked prices at those so forgive me if I am all off base..those just came to mind....

Prices are very high these days, plus October is high season. I would check booking.com and reserve something quickly if you mean this October.

I agree with Leely2. I would put your nights into a booking engine and see what is even available. We are spending one night in Rome in late September to position for a flight home. When I was looking at hotels for this a few months ago, several of my top choices were already booked out for the night we wanted. We are staying at Hotel Cellini (reasonably central 3-star) for over $300/night. I just plugged a random October week into Booking dot com, and the rates all around are pretty high.

ms_go, I've had a similar experience. I decided about a week ago to spend a few days in Rome this October and had major sticker shock when I saw prices (plus very limited availability). I'm accustomed to much lower hotel costs as for the past several years I've visited during the dog days of summer.

I think the Hotel Alimandi Vaticano would be in your price range. It has changed hands since we stayed there but we found it very comfortable with a good breakfast. It is right across from the entrance to the Vatican Museum so a little out of the way from some sights but very convenient if you are interested in visiting the Vatican area.

Not in central Rome but steps from trams that get you anywhere, I’ve been staying in Trastevere my last several visits & love Relais le Clarisse. Kind, friendly staff, good breakfast, my current favorite. It appears they have availability in October, depending on the dates.

We just returned from Italy and noted that prices in all cities seem to have increased substantially. Agree that you would be well advised to have a look at booking.com and grab something acceptable.

Post Covid prices have soared. Even off season prices are much higher.

Its sort of late to be finding a hidden gem/bargain hotel for October. Likely most properties Fodorites recommend are already booked up, though you might get lucky. Your budget is modest (though I'm not sure if you mean €150 or €200) so I agree -- just plug your dates in to Booking.com and see what you can find in your price range.

If you want to go off the beaten path, we stay often in Fiumicino, near the airport. GREAT town on the Tiber where it opens into the sea..fabulous places to eat and a fast trip ride to Roma Centro. Full of local life....for me it is dreamy.

That's probably not what you want, so if not, look at the Monti neighborhood.....

Or as posters advised, above, just look at BOOKING.COM. You cannot go all the wrong..you will be in ROME!!!!!!!

See what you find o booking and return to ask about specfic hotels...buses are great in Rome just secure your belongings....as you would in any city.

I second Mme Perdu's recommendation of Relais Le Clarisse in Trastevere, we have stayed there and it was good, friends stayed last year and enjoyed it.

We have booked we have managed to find something - more expensive but hey ho!

I was hoping to stay at my usual budget hotel near Termini Station last spring, and I was shocked to see how much it costs now.

I myself almost always use booking.com to reserve lodging, even in places I know we'll, like Rome. They allow you to filter results, so if you don't want an apartment, specify that in your filter, because most of the cheaper lodgings will be apartments. There are also lodgings that are sort of semi-hotels.

We recently stayed in a lodging in Trastevere which had double rooms like a hotel, but no hotel services. The proprietor came around to sign us in and give us the keys, but we never saw her again. She was reachable by phone when we had a question, and responded very promptly. When we left, we were told to leave the keys in the room and close the door.

The rooms were comfortable and the location in Trastevere was convenient. We were able to walk to many locations in the centre of Rome, and it was very near the beautiful basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere.

This guest house no longer lists on booking.com but you can find it by searching for "Hotel Ripa Roma". I don't know if they've changed the level of service. I checked and see that they have rooms available in October at prices between €200 and €300.
