hi all
i am looking to take my partner to paris in febuary, can any one recommend a hotel (min2*, including own w.c) looking ideally to be as close to city centre as possible |
What is your definition of reasonable..
80€, 125€, or more or less?? |
We always stay at the Golden Tulip Little Palace. Great rooms and a wonderful restaurant. I think we paid about 165 Euro per Night?

Doubles 84-110E 2 blocks from the Seine and Hotel de Ville http://www.paris-hotel-louvre-forum.com/ Doubles 95-105E 3 blocks from the Louvre and Palais Royal. |
I am not sure if this fits your definition of reasonable, but you cannot get much closer to the city center than the Ile St. Louis, where a double room at the Hotel Deux Iles cost 170 Euro.

Hi L,
We always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. From 124E dbl w/bkfst. It is located near 3 metro stops. Has AC and an elevator. Tel 33 1 43 26 97 37 FAX 33 1 46 33 57 67 www.hotelbonaparte.fr For more info, enter "Hotel Bonaparte" in the "search this forum" box. Photos are at http://tinyurl.com/ludgd ((I)) |
ladylever - I did not know Paris had a 'city centre'. I have visited the city nearly a dozen times and everyone refers to different 'arrondisements' but maybe you are thinking of accommodation in the most popular area visited by tourists which is probably the 5th & 6th arr.
I stayed at the Hotel Le Clement, 6 rue Clement, off blvd.St.Germain. Fax.+33(0)1 44 07 06 83. or www.hotel-clement.f |
Hotel Monge in the 5th

I also liked Dacia Luxembourg near the Sorbonne. But again, we don't know what you consider "reasonable" rates.

Cheap/clean/central: pick two.

Hotel du Lys in the 6th; ideal location for exploring both left and right banks. www.hoteldulys.com

Paris has a center like all cities -- the islands in the Seine are it. Notre Dame is the center.
|
Paris most certainly does have a center. Look at any decent map. The arrondisements spiral outward by number. I would consider the center, the inside of that spiral, non?
|
I'm with you Suze. Seems pretty basic to me. How can you not know what the general "center" of Paris is?

We recently stayed at the Royal Phare Hotel on Motte-Picquet, 79 Euros a night, with private WC and shower. They have their own web page, book the "superior" room. The Ecole Militaire metro stop is right out the front door, the Eiffel Tower is a 5 minute walk and the Rue Cler market street is one block away. Staff is very friendly and most speak English. |
