Jpie - thank you .. 3 hours is Ok for us via train.
Is April not considered Spring in France?
we could go for 2 -3 days would that work?
any specific area you recommend staying in or things to see..?

its probably safer , but due to my life schedule and home situation its not going to happen again if we don't go in April... I'm wondering if trip insurance will cover us if France becomes on the high alert list.... or will we get our flights $ back ?

don't book, don't go. I know it's tough, but please make the rational choice. even if not for your own sake, for the sake of others.

<<We've postponed our April trip to September. Our fear was being unable to get home and actually not enjoying ourselves as much by having to be on guard all the time. I'm aware that we could face the same thing in the fall but willing to risk it.>>
good call, Judy. Frankly I think that if they haven't sorted out this problem by September we'll have things other than holidays to worry about.

Lilly, don't take this trip now. Yes, April is considered spring in France - why would it not be? If nothing else, postponing the trip will give you a few months to read about the places you may be visiting instead of considering taking off to places like Avignon without a clue of what there is to see and do there. And to figure out how trip insurance works.
shelemm, the Musée Carnavalet is still closed, with no definite date for its re-opening. As for magasins à deuxième-main, the preponderance of them is in the 11ème, most of them near the Place de la République and several on the rue Saint-Maur.
