Ready,Set, Go

Ready Set and Finally Go

First of all as so many before me have said: Thank you Fodors Mentors for all the wonderful advice! Of course I have chosen to ignore some, taken others as if directly from the lips of a deity, and modified the rest..

My months of research and website visiting and travel talk lurking have provided me with amazing input. The give and take on the board ,the incredible little spats plus the FFR and R have been new worlds.

Finally before I go (on Tuesday) what have I learned?

Packing light-this is a fabulous idea and I have really convinced my DH that this is the way to go. That way my stuff can be toted by him and I have multiple choices in my clothes daily.Plus one of his two suitcases then becomes mine-this is a winning combination.

Open Toed Shoes- One must make sacrifices for fashion and infections may be the price.

New Clothes-Now this is an example of straight from the mouth of God. I do believe that new clothes pack better and so I bought new clothes.

Fanny packs, cowboy boots, and sticking out-I can cope w/ looking like an American on vacation in Europe but I hope (see new clothes above) to look like I have some sense of fashion.

Wheeled luggage vs lugged around luggage- this is why we have DHs.

Phones-This I did figure out thank you very much, our Motorola is ready to go(pretested by college students i.e. it works but they burned up the charger in the whole adapter deal)

Trains-please don’t let there be a strike

Steerage-we are in serious negotiations about what it’s worth to upgrade, last time home from the Czech Repub. we both thought we’d lose our minds (it may have happened) plus our very dear TCs left today only after two in depth phone calls extolling BA’s first class service, hopefully they (our TCs) drank too much wine and have headaches, the full extension bed description put me over the edge.

Finally-thanks again to : Elaine,StuDudley,Patrick,Ira, and all those posters whose descriptions doubled me up in laughter, caused me serious off task time at work, and gave me an incredible preview of coming attractions. And to Hotpoet who tried to organize a Rome GTG w/ two newbies like me, thanks and look for me: my theme is black w/ pink ……

The fact that you have convinced your "husband" to pack light so that he can tote all of your stuff speaks volumes.

When he's carrying your luggage, it certainly does stand for "Dear Husband." Other times, other words!

Have a great trip Sue!
