??? re Stansted Express
We are flying into Stansted this Thursday afternoon, and I just noticed the following message when I was about to purchase train tickets:
"Due to industrial action taking place on Thursday 30th and Friday 31st July, Stansted Express will be running a limited service between Stansted Airport and London Liverpool Street. Please allow plenty of additional time to complete your journey. We apologise for any inconvenience caused." Does anyone know how limited? Normally a train arrives every 15 minutes, but it doesn't say how often. Our flight arrives at 6:30 PM, and we need to go to Liverpool Street. |
Actually, our final destination is Marriott Hotel Regents Park, with Swiss Cottage being the closed tube.
Should we make other arrangements, or do you think we are o.k going with the Stansted Express? |
No-one knows how limited.
It depends on who actually goes on strike (many members of many railway unions don't like these strikes) and how much can be done by managers. Check when you get there. I'm not sure why you think Swiss Cottage station will be closed: the easiest alternative is likely to be the bus from STN to Baker St, then a tube or taxi to the hotel |
Oh, I meant CLOSEST, not closed.
|
Would setting up a coach ride through national express be a better option? It says 24/7, so we would also be able to have them pick us up for our return trip Sunday morning.
|
If anyone is familiar with the national express routes, can anyone help me with the best route to our Hotel near Swiss Cottage?
|
Without looking it up myself, consider these options.
www.easybus.co.uk - probably take the EasyBus to Baker Street, and then take the tube to your hotel. www.terravision.it - not sure what stop is best, but take the tube or local bus from whatever it is. Check www.thetube.com in conjunction with the stops for the above services. |
Oh, sorry flanneruk, just noticed you gave a route to use: STN to Baker St, then on from there. Thanks!
