Ravello concerts
I'm staying in Ravello in June. Do you need to get tickets for the music concerts in Ravello in advance ???
|
tickets are availible all over ravello. Its a small town. The Villa Rufulo has concerts each evening for the public as well as guests.
|
What month do the concerts begin? We will be there in mid-May. Are they classical--are they before or after dinner? Can you tell us a little more please? Many thanks--
Monica--the concerts are a wonderful experience! tix are on a FCFS basis, so you get better seats booking in advance. for more info and booking, go to the Ravello Concert Society web site:
www.rcs.amalficoast.it

you can also book at:
www.ravelloarts.org

we booked about 2 weeks in advance and got front row center seats.
an unforgettable evening is dinner at Cumpa' Cosimo restaurant, just off the square in Ravello--the veal in lemon sauce is scrumptious--and then on to Villa Rufolo--just across the square-- for the concert which typically begins at 9:30 pm. but check the web sites to make sure about the start time.
enjoy!
We will be visiting Ravello but staying in positano. Is it possible to stay for the evening concert and then get a ride back to Positano, or is the road too dangerous to negotiate at night? Do most people who have dinner in Ravello and then stay on for the concert stay overnight in Ravello?
|
I think there are concerts up to November at Ravello. But I am not sure, check out the web site.

The last city bus from Ravello to Amalfi departs at 9 (or possibly 10) p.m. Sometimes, special buses are chartered for concert evenings, to take patrons back to Salerno after the performance. This of course won't help for Positano. If you don't have a rental car, you'd be advised to spend the night in Ravello. It's really, really worthwhile, since Ravello is gorgeous both during the day and also at night. Walking back to your hotel at night along the town's silent narrow lanes is an experience itself. And then, you can experience sunrise! Not all the hotels are expensive, there are two: the Villa Amore and the Hotel Toro, which are budget properties (but neither has air conditioning). The BEST place to spend the night, in my personal opinion, would be the super-private Hotel Villa Cimbrone, since patrons have exclusive access to its magical gardens (and the breathtaking Belvedere) at night!

Ellen--no problem driving from Ravello back to Positano after the concerts. The traffic is much lighter that late at nite, and almost all of the tour buses are gone by the time the concerts are over.

When you say you "booked" two weeks in advance, did you buy the tix over the Internet site? We heard the best way to get tix is through your hotel concierge?
|
Yep; booked them via internet.
