You can actually book for more than 3 weeks out (there's a button you can click or something).
Someone told me about it, and for a London hotel I'm thinking of booking, they're cheaper than a competitor by about 10 pounds (out of 90 pounds or so).
I've not used it yet though. I noticed that cancelations are subject to a fee.

We used them when we had to add a last night in Paris before going to the airport, after coming back from a trip to Strasbourg. We got a very good price on the Best Western Left Bank, a hotel several on this board have recommended. The only caveat is to be sure to take your confirmation w/you, b/c the Left Bank reservation clerk was going to charge us the regular higher rate for the room until I showed her my confirmation.

A few days ago I used london.ratetogo.com to book a studio at 196 Bishopsgate for Saturday.
I don't expect any problems, but I'll report back if there're some.
The rate I got was 88 pounds + 3 pounds booking fee. Utell offered this at 99 pounds.
It looks like the London version of the website is slightly cheaper than what's offered on the US mirror (with the exchange rate taken into account), so I booked on the London site.
By the way, for anyone looking at London hotels and who don't mind being out by Liverpool tube station (and who don't want to use PL), 196 Bishopsgate could be a viable choice as the weekend rate is 75 pounds if you stay for 2 nights.
I've not stayed there so I don't know how good it is, but I'm not expecting any major problems.

A little aside. Out of curiosity, the studio is still at 88 pounds, but the USD equivalent is now 169 (compared to 171-173 the site was quoting).
So the site does appear to dynamically take the exchange rate into account.
However, I believe that the implied exchange rate is still not as good as the market rate.
I suppose I could've saved a little more -- fxall.com shows 1.8402 USD to 1 GBP, so 88 pounds = 162 US -- by booking the room now.
