Biggest Dislikes:

1. Posters with no sense of humor.
2. Self-Appointed Fodors Monitors who constantly ask "how is this related to travel". If you dont like a post, just ignore it and let it sink to the bottom.

Ron

I really had to laugh when I read this post.
Sometimes people here sound like my two children squabbling!
I think we are all just a bunch of far flung siblings,so we get on each other's nerves and quarrel.

What I don't like are
1-posters without a sense of humor
2-posters who are impatient with other people's posts
3-Posters who attack each.

It would be nice if we all could be more tolerant of each other.

What drives me crazy? The certain poster who has visited the country I live in maybe a half dozen times for probably 8-12 weeks total and admits to nearly ALWAYS staying in the same exact town and region, nevertheless he/she is absolutely convinced that that one small area is the BEST part of the country and they are THE expert. Whenever I try to point out less touristy alternatives he always objects "No you must go here because Rick Steves likes it". Ok they don't go quite that far...

And whenever I post an answer to someone?s question about the area/country I live, this poster will go and post basically the same exact thing again (eg. rail times, prices). It?s as if he/she can't stand that someone could possibly know more then them, I don't think he/she even bothers to read what others have posted before them.

Ok, I've got that off my chest...Hmm, I could start in on Rick Steve's devotees...
Get sick of posters who are more concerned with their wardrobe than their itinerary; or who are overly concerned with playing "dress up", and pretending like their a local.

I'm a newbie (my first post) and what I dislike about this forum is that I've felt too intimidated to ask any questions for fear of being publicly flogged by those whose favorite pastime seems to be to pick on those of us who maybe haven't traveled much, but would just like some help.

I must say, though, that this is the "best" (OK, my favorite) travel forum I've found and I'm hooked. I love the humor and the relatively intellectual discussion. I agree with Sheila; live and let live. Censorship would certainly take the life out of the forum.

What I dislike most about this forum is the lack of a reasonably reliable search function. How can a search function be so inconsistent?

Honey Bee,
Please don't be intimidated!!
It does stink when others pick on a poster, but it has happened to alot of us.
I have received great info here, and made some wonderful "friends" that I correspond with.
(I was a newbie about 11 months ago, and we will be doing our 1st Europe trip this summer.)
It is a good site, so just rise above all the bad stuff, and do not let anyone "chase" you away!!
If you have a trip coming up, I hope it is a fun one!

1) People who belittle people who ask "first timer" questions because they are first timers.

It would be wise for all of us to remember that we were all first timers once--and it is better to ignore a question than to answer it with an insult.

2) People who parade as experts on just about everything--and then throw around insults when someone has the temerity to disagree with them.

I am going to add another pet peeve to the two I already posted:

3) People who start threads specifically to insult an individual they do not like. And, people who continue to post on the thread using aliases for the same reason.
