Rank my Bernese Oberland hikes please!

Jump to last reply

The following are short hikes I might like to do this July with my family, including 2 children (9 and 11). We are staying in Wengen for one week. We have just come back from the Grand Canyon, and they did well at elevations past 7,000 feet (2,133 m). We usually try to limit one hike to 2-3 hours. I would appreciate some opinions on how you would rank or prioritize these hikes. For instance, if we have limited good weather, which of these would be at the top of your list? We choose a hike primarily for beautiful scenery and awesome mountain views. I don't want anything dangerous or too strenuous (due to the kids).

Also, feel free to add suggestions if I have left out a hike that you would include. Also, does anyone have suggestions on where to spot edelweiss (besides the Alpengarten at Schynige Platte)?

Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg
Schynige Platte -Panorama Trail (is Schynige Platte worth the 2 hour travel time to get there one way from Wengen?!)
Grutschalp to Murren
Northface trail from Allmendhubel
Children's Adventure Trail from Allmendhubel
First to Lake Bachalpsee
Lauterbrunnen to Stechelburg (more like a walk than a hike?)

Thanks for your help!
