Random: Are there any Zoos in Croatia?

Hi all,

I'll be landing in Zagreb in July and I wanted to know if there are any worthwhile zoos in Croatia? Or anything animal related in general? I love animals!

any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks all!

Zagreb has a small zoo.

Croatia is also home to wolves, lynx, bears, wild boar, chamois, abundant birdlife, dolphins, etc. But for most of those you have to get off the tourist trail and into the national parks.

Zagreb's Maksimir Zoo is the only one I am aware of. As hetismij2 stated, it has wildlife, but nothing that is easily found without going into Plitvice, Paklenica, etc.

Only in zagreb you can visit Zoo that is not to big. But there are a Natural Resorts and Park you can visit like Plitvice lakes and Kopacki Rit and Velebit.

When I was there in 1998 there was a small zoo on top of Marjan (the big hill out on the peninsula) in Split. If you are going to Split, it's worth climbing the hill even if the zoo isn't there anymore.
