Ramada Jarvis Hyde Park# 2
Well I guess I hit the button accidentally.
Anyway, Hyde Park looks like there are many activities going on inside. Any suggestions or opinions on the area? Thanks, Nic |
Bumping this. I may be staying at this hotel and would also like some info. thanks.

I didn't see the first post so I don't know what exactly the questions are but I stayed at the Ramada Jarvis Hyde Park in July 2003 and November 2003. The first time, I had been booked at the Kensington one but they apparently overbooked and put me up at their sister hotel.
In July, I was quite pleased. The room was on the 6th floor overlooking Kensington Gardens. Be aware that although it has Hyde Park in the name, it really is closer to Kensington Gardens. In November, I went for cheap and stayed also on the 6th floor but my view was not as great. Both rooms and all rooms have hairdryer, iron, pant press, and tea maker. The room in July was a double and the one in Nov. was a single but I didn't feel cramped in the smaller one and I think the bathrooms were the same size - again not too small. I found the staff there very nice and helpful. I liked the location for several reasons. It is midway between two Tube stations, right across the street from Ken Gardens, and right across from the National Express A2 bus line that takes you directly to Heathrow. I found this easier than taking the tube or a taxi to and from the airport. I would stay there again next time I went to London. Enjoy your visit. :) |
I can only speak for the location. If this hotel is near Kensington Garden then it's a really nice location. We stayed at the now Holiday Inn which was formerly The Forum Hotel. I recall we walked to Kensington High Street and the homes surrounding the hotel were very nice, nice neighborhood. And the garden was nice too. Where we entered the park we could see Kensington Palace in the distance.

I should have added that the hotel is on Bayswater which borders Ken Gardens to the north. My sense from other posters is that it is a "colorful" neighborhood if you continue north whatever that means. Imperial College is nearby so there is probably a student population in that area. I felt safe in the area and both times I went solo and I am female.
