Rainy day in Paris....
Okay, so I live in a city where it rains less than 15 days (if that) out of the year and it's never heavy rain. Some weather websites say that it will rain this Sunday in Paris, while others say that it won't. At this point, I don't know which one to believe. Anyway, one website says that it will rain .30 inches of rain. Is this a lot or can I still carry on with my outdoor itinerary? Should I leave Versailles for a later date?
I know that this sounds likes a stupid question, but I would rather be prepared to change my itinerary than end-up walking in the pouring rain.... |
I'd rather be in a rainy day in Paris than a sunny day any where else in the world. But I may have a bit of a bias. I think Paris is the most fabulous place in the world. Others may disagree, that's the beauty of fodor's chat. I'm sure you will get multiple opinions.

Nice :)

It's only Monday. I wouldn't believe a weather site this far in advance. A third of an inch is not that much. If it rains it will probably drizzle at least part of the day. I doubt you'll have pouring rain with only 1/3 inch of water accumulation but I'd rather have pouring rain since it gets over more quickly.
You will be able to go to Versailles if it rains; you'll be inside most of the time. Bring an umbrella and a plastic bag to put the wet umbrella into so it doesn't drip all over. Where do you live...I want to move there! |
Fantastic :)

We had a rainy day in Paris and we appreciated the batobus hop-on-hop-off pass, because it's a glass covered boat, so you can relax out of the rain and watch the beautiful city glide by. The batobus stops at the major sites in Paris, so you can get on and off as you choose.

Oh, I live in Sunny Southern California. I complain when it's cloudy and around 65F. What can I say, I was born and raised here.

I had never heard of the batobus....I like it! This could be a nice option - sure beats being underground.

We were in Paris May 11-20,and it rained half the time.I would rather be in Paris in the rain than anywhere else .It didn't slow us down to much,we had a great visit

You can also use buses. My feeling about rain is, you deal with it. Have an umbrella or a hood and just go about your business. It's just water. No way I would ever let it change my plans for touring Paris, although I might switch off outdoor for indoor venues.

Thanks everyone. I'm ready to go!

FWIW: I was in Munich the weekend before last. The weather forecast from various sites called for rain Saturday and Sunday with temps in the 60's. The reality was crystal clear sunny skies with highs in the mid 70's.
