Geez! Some of you guys can be a little snarky! Of course I'm not staying in the prison. I am staying in that area! And I know I won' t melt. But it is calling for a lot of rain and I don't like to be soaked. Thank you to those who suggested some of the smaller museums. Sundriedtopepo, I did notice that the weather seems to be a bit cool. We are well prepared.
HOHO Buses are a waste of money when for the price on one ticket, you can see sights above ground as you are going from one place to another. The metro is great for Long distances but not really that intereating.

Looked at windfinder: it will start raining quite heavily only after 5PM. That's the time when you want to hole up somewhere for an apéro and start thinking of going to dinner.

During the day there is some light rain in the morning, before 11 am. Rest of the afternoon looks reasonable.

So that walk in the Marais, I'd just do it and bring a brolly. If the rain is against you, you can wait some of it out at BHV and then move on.

Debbielynn, I took the 69 bus last week from end to end and back. It is famous for going past a huge number of interesting things to see. It starts at the Champs de Mars and ends at Pere Lachaise Cemetery.

I much prefer buses to the metro but I admit I don't like to be underground. Enjoy your stay in Paris!

Snarky people are SO literal....

Thanks Menachem and Belinda. If weather permits, that's what we'll do. So excited to be going again and seeing things through someone else's eyes. I also had the 69 in mind.

Going on a cruise in the rain is fruitless. You can't see a thing, even if the boat is covered.
Same thing with the HOHO buses - though FoxCity has a cover up top.

Why not take other buses? Get yourself a bus plan - the best is the "L'Indispensable" series - about 6 EU at any news kiosk. Bus 69 is OK, but there are much better neighborhoods to explore by bus.

Be aware that there might be "manif's" at this time of year, and bus routes might be compromised or stop altogether. You should see a sign on the bus stop.

Already said I wouldn't use the HOHO bus. I can figure out the city bus system. Been there, done that. I think I read there were strikes on the 12th. Hopefully by tomorrow , it will be better.

No metro or bus disruptions in the city today.

Some of the big department stores (Galleries Lafayette, etc.) are quite interesting and have amazing architecture. And not far from them is Opera Garnier which has tours (you don't have to go to a performance). And they are close to some of the more interesting 'passages'. That's an area I like to go to on rainy days as there are several 'inside' things close together.

How about a walk under the porticos around Places des Voges. There are shops and cafes to check out as well as Victor Hugo's house at # 6. I love the many small museums in Paris - the Musee Marmottan (impressionists) in the 16th; The Musee Nissim de Camondo (very moving) - now part of Les Arts Decoratifs and the nearby Cernuschi Museum for Asian Art - both in the 8th. I could go on an on. I love Paris in any weather.

Today is the 13th - strong winds and heavy rains predicted.
Just FYI.

fuzzbucket Sep 13th, 2017 11:07 PM

Just a thought - don't you have access to a television or a computer? Why not look up the weather like we all do?

Whathello Sep 13th, 2017 11:38 PM

Or just get soaked wet when biking 20 min to catch the bloody train after your boss prolonged a meeting when there was just a window of dry weather ;-)

My jeans were dry upon arrival but not my jacket.. Yikes, hate to put back something wet on me...

Raining in Aachen and in Koeln too this morning...
