Rain in Spain

I'm going to Madrid tomorrow and horror of horrors it's going to rain the entire time I'm there. I'm definitely buying the museum pass and still going to Escorial but the side trip to Toledo I don't know.....

Any suggestions about things to do since it looks like I won't be able to go on any of the walking tours.

How about buying an umbrella and not letting it ruin your trip?

MoKay:

Don’t let the weather reports discourage you. They’re often misleading.

I just got back from a two-week trip to Paris. The International Herald Tribune and CNN International predicted cloudy skies and showers for Paris nearly every day I was there, Yes, it rained occasionally in the middle of the night or in the early morning, or drizzled in the afternoon. But the sun often burst through and stayed, and the rain cleaned the skies and kept the temperature moderate.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happened to you in Madrid. I’ve been to Madrid and Toledo. A far worse fate would be if it were too hot in both places.

It's raining in Madrid ..and very hard. It's on the news on TV here in Spain.

more like flooding and travellers trapped all night in train stations.

hope you escaped the worst.but it should be getting better soon.

hope you can pack that umbrella away!

It rained most days but were sunny days too. i think it was kind of fitting that I went to Escorial when it was dready. I truly enjoyed myself. I learned so much.

Time to plan my next trip.

It seems unlikely that it will rain for 5 days in a row, all day long. I am sure that there will be a window of opportunity. Just be ready for a trip to Toledo any of those days and if the weather is promising in the morning, grab the opportunity. At least there will be times when it does not rain so heavily. We had some bad luck last year with the weather during our vacation, so I can totally understand you. But don't let it ruin your trip.
Good luck.

the same happened to us - in sunny Sidney. It started raining the day we arrived and continued for 5 days.
We got two umbrellas and did everything we wanted to do.
It cleared the day we had to leave.
Still , we had a great time, loved Sidney, and hope to go back someday.
good luck

nbujic,
You were lucky. We had English friends come to Sydney for three *weeks* and it rained every day! However, that was years ago before the big drought. Beautiful here at the moment!
