Railroad Station Change
 

My wife and I will be coming into Paris from Sitzerland by train, and will be going to London by train. Can anyone help with the locations of the train stations and the best way to made this change of stations, and the time needed. Thanks

It would be very helpful if you knew which train station you were coming into and which one you were leaving from. <BR>Paris has several trains stations, including Gare-de-Lyon which is a terminus for many trains to the west and southwestern parts of France. <BR>My guess is you will arrive at Gare-de-Lyon and leave from Gare-du-Nord. A Paris veteran could tell you a lot if he or she knows the exact train station. <BR>

trains from geneva go through Gare du Nord, which is the same station for the Eurostar (chunnel train)

In addition (sorry I hit the send button too soon): there's a website www.sncf.com that you can plan your trip (it's in English, too) and even book your tickets. Gare du Nord is a very busy station (especially with the Chunnel trains) with a couple of cafes and a famous restaurant, le train bleu (not for the food, for the decor). The neighborhood is also very active, so if you have a layover between trains, you can wander a bit and get something to eat.

Elvira: we are headed to Switzerland from Paris. Our hotel probably be one close to Gare du Nord. Which trains for Geneva leave from Gare du Nord? <BR>It would be easier for us if we could leave from there rather than Gare du Lyon, which is the only Paris train station I have found so far with TGV connections to either Lausanne, Bern, or Geneva. I looked at three train schedule web sites and they all tell me the same thing: leave from Gare du Lyon. <BR>

<BR>Trains from Chur, Basel and Zurich come into Paris Est station. Trains from Bern, Lausanne and Geneva come into Paris Gare de Lyon. Paris Est station is 200 yards from Paris Gare du Nord. Gare de Lyon is four kilometers or less from Gare du Nord, and a high speed metro train (an RER train) connects the two stations.
