Rail/Car Rental Question - England
Does anyone know if there are any train stations in Devon or Somerset where you can pick up a rental car right at the station? I've tried Autoeurope and they can't help me (they only have street info.). Thanks.

The obvious answer is the Europcar desk at Taunton platform 2.
Other than that, two resources you need to use with care.
National Rail station search (www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations_destinations/) will tell you about stations (like Taunton) with a hire desk actually inside the station. But they're rare and there are loads of hire desks within 100 yards of stations (like art Euston and Oxford) that don't show up on the National Rail site.
So try www.car-rental-hire.co.uk/rail-station.htm. This is a commercial site, promoting one company.
As always, of course, you should google in the language of the country where you're travelling. The site I've just quoted popped up immediately by googling 'station "car hire" '. It didn't crop up at all if I made the mistake of using foreign terms for the concept.

Ya know - I wouldn't much worry about a rental agency right at a station. There are no major metropolises in either of those counties - even IF the rental agency is on the opposite side of town, a taxi would only cost a few £ . . . . .

Thanks janisj and thursdaysd. There may be a group of us and I just thought with luggage, etc. it might be easier to have the rental agency right there. But I could cab it and bring car back and pick up everyone. And I didn't know enterprise picks you up. Good tip.
