rail travel

ok so i plan on doing alot of travel by train, do you check you bags? or do you take them with you? If you check is this safe? if you keep them, is there a limit on size, i will have a 22 inch carry on and a bookbag that is 20x 13x 8 (for camera, camcordor ect)

Judy's link didn't go to a thread..
but basically you carry your own bags on board. There is usually a shelf over your head for small bags - a 22" will usually fit. If not, then there will be a storage area at the end of the car. If you are nervous, you can secure the bag to the cage with a retractable cable lock.

do you reccomend buying a lock/ cable? i am hoping to keep my luggage with me.

This is one of many, many threads - - to which Judy may have been trying to send you.

I would personally not spend money on cables or locks, unless you are traveling alone and for long distances (thus "vulnerable" for trips to the bathroom, etc). You may find that you can develop enough "seat-side cameraderie" that watching for each other seems confortable, even with people you had never met before just then. Where is a thief going to go with your stuff, anyhow?

Best wishes,

Rex
