Ira-why over 40 the 1st class? Us 40 something can do 2nd class.

Hi areinert,

The railpass people intend for you to buy your pass in the US.

It is more expensive in Europe.

ira Feb 22nd, 2004 10:09 AM

Hi Paula,

And there are people under 30 who go 1 cl.

paula5 Feb 22nd, 2004 10:31 AM

Just Kidding Ira! @nd class is fine with me. I rather spend my money on food and other goodies!

areinert Feb 22nd, 2004 01:46 PM

Will people give their input on first class versus second class. I need to decide and would appreciate other peoples thoughts

Last time you traded in a car or sold it, was it worth more than $20,000? If so, then I bet you would favor first class.

Have you ridden a city bus fewer than three times in the pst ten years? Then I bet you would favor first class.

Do you think that the prices...and the value that you get for them... at Morton's or Ruth's Chris or Wollensky and Smith are an outrageous joke? Then you might favor second class.

Have you been to a furniture store, looked at ANY item that costs more than $2000 and said "Who buys this stuff?" - - then you would probably favor second class.

If none of these tests seem to help you define your preferences, then you are probably in the "middle" 60-70% of (US) travelers to Europe. For you, this is just a personal choice, for which you don't necessarily fit any particular mold. For me to know which you might prefer is strictly a guessing game.

Sorry Rex, I should have been clearer. What I intended to say was please share what class of service you choice on trains and why. This information will help me in my considerations

rex Feb 22nd, 2004 02:16 PM

My answers were with respect to what class of service on trains tht you would prefer (or more accurately, the preferences of people that I have traveled with). They are based on my best guess of "representative" personality "predictors".

Yes. (unless someone else is paying)
Yes.

I always travel 2nd class. And I'm proud to admit it!
