I must add that we felt a little odd and got stared at by the locals eating raclette at a big lunch on a very hot July day in Paris. And that raclette heater does give off a lot of heat.
To be truly appreciated, one should do raclette in a log lodge in the middle of the Swiss Alps during a snowstorm!

Even in September, and even in Switzerland (Altdorf, to be specific), I was a bit surprised by how many funny looks we got asking for fondue "out of season". Although we eventually did find a place (and it was really really good) - - it occurred to us that perhaps it was like walking in to random restaurants in our own home towns, and asking for turkey and dressing at the wrong time of year.
Best wishes,
Rex
