R&R in Germany - Trip Report
Just a few notes and pictures from my most recent trip to Germany last month. Two weeks - Schwarzwald - Odenwald - Rhine Gorge. Several budget accommodations listed and some nice restaurants near them. Also some fairly decent Fall colors pictures - especially along the Rhine... Ben

Very nice pictures and a great report. Thanks for sharing. We will be headed to Germany in Feb, and am researching info now.

Very nice! You inspire me to try some budget accommodations of the Ferienwohnug or Zimmer type.
Have you been to Staufen? It is a charming town also in the Schwarzwald. |

I have not but thanks to you I've been researching it for the past hour and plan to include it in my trip next year. I will do at least ten days in the Schwarzwald and Staufen looks like a winner to me. I'm looking for other towns like Staufen (on the train lines) to day trip to next year. Those free trains in the Black Forest are hard to pass up... Ben |
Great photos, Ben. My DH took that same photo in Miltenberg with the Fountain! We stayed in Bacharach a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. We lucked out and were there for the 650th year celebration of the town's founding.
The fall colors on the Rhein are spectacular! We've only be in May, but I think we may have to make our next trip in the Fall. |
Wonderful pictures and great report.
Thanks for sharing. This part of Germany is high on my list. |
Boy, I must have been really tired last night because I made a huge boo boo!
Our last trip to Germany and Austria WAS in the fall but it was from mid to late September and the colors were really just starting to change. |
bb, Thanks for sharing. I've used your website in the past and have benefited by it. Are you going to change your name to blackforestben?

Ben:
I had followed your itinerary to the 'T" in Rothenburg. This looks like another 'keeper' to follow when I get the chance to head over again! Amazing places and even more amazing prices! For those that are thinking about any trip to Germany, www.bensbauernhof.com is the second (after fodors!) place you should use for reference. 10 years Ben! Congradulations! John |
